Things to remember in the event of an Automobile loss:
- If someone is injured, first find a way to call for help. Next, if an injured person at the scene requires assistance, do what you can. You will be reimbursed for any reasonable expense. This includes, but is not limited to, the cost of first aid supplies and blankets or clothing that may be used or damaged in the process.
- Most jurisdictions suggest that you call the police if anyone is injured or if the damage to the vehicle(s) exceeds a certain dollar amount (usually $700.00)
- Do not discuss responsibility for the accident with anyone except the investigating officer.
Information you should get from the police or the other driver:
- Names, addresses, phone numbers and drivers' license numbers of all drivers and witnesses.
- Description, plate number and insurance information of the other vehicle.
- Names of the streets
- Time of the accident.
- Investigating officer's name, force and badge number.
Things to remember in the event of a Property loss:
- The risks to property are many and varied - theft, fire and flood, to name a few. Your response depends on the type of loss you face but here are some hints to get you started:
- If you have a theft or vandalism claim, report the loss immediately to the police.
- If your property is damage, do what you can to protect it from further damage. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
- Assemble any receipts, warrantee documents and other proofs of ownership for the lost or damaged property.
- Retain any receipts for expenses or replaced property.
Do not discuss responsibility for any loss with anyone until you have spoken to our office or the Insurance Company.
